Material Planning Considerations

The current planning system requires Local Authorities to determine applications in accordance with the Development Plan unless material planning considerations dictate otherwise.  Government Advice contained in The Planning System: General Principles states that material considerations must be genuine planning considerations, i.e. they must be related to the development and use of land in the public interest. The considerations must also fairly and reasonably relate to the application concerned.  If you are lodging an objection to a planning application only those comments which constitute material considerations are likely to be given any weight.

Rob Duncan Planning Consultancy can provide assistance and guidance to local residents wishing to object to development proposals, and ensure that comments raised are based on material planning considerations.

Rob Duncan Planning Consultancy provides specialist town and country planning advice to landowners, householders and developer’s alike, and specialises in the West Midlands and Staffordshire area, including Lichfield, Walsall, Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Burton-on-Trent, Stafford, Tamworth, Leek, and the rural areas inbetween.  If you need help applying for planning permission, have had planning permission refused, or just want some general planning advice, please do not hesitate to contact us.
