High Rise Fire Training Facility – a UK First!
Rob Duncan Planning Consultancy Ltd. was appointed last year by West Midlands Fire Service to secure planning consent for a new high rise training facility. Over recent years the UK has suffered a number of fires in high rise buildings that
have caused the deaths of fire fighters and members of the public, and this prompted West Midlands Fire Service to develop a bespoke multi-storey training facility at Oldbury Fire Station. Pre-application discussions were held with a number of consultees, most notably the Council’s Environmental Health Officer and the Highways Agency, and this led to the application being approved at the first attempt.
