Decentralised Planning Fees
A recent survey carried out by Planning Magazine – the journal of the Royal Town Planning Institute has showed that whilst only 14% of Local Authority planners consider LPAs setting their own fees will hamper development, some 59% of Planning Consultants surveyed disagreed and considered it would have an adverse impact. In 2010 the Government introduced proposals to allow Local Authorities to set their own planning fees in order to ensure that their costs in determining applications are met. However, it remains to be seen how the resultant fee schedules will change from the current national fees.
